McAdoo and Brown Lead Milan Team to Basketball Win

Americans Bob McAdoo and Rickey Brown led a second-half rally that gave European champion Tracer of Milan a 111-103 victory over Washington, a U.S. college team, Friday on the final day of qualifying games at the Intercontinental Cup basketball tournament at Palatrussardi Arena.

Tracer is 2-1 with four points in Group A, earning a berth in Saturday’s semifinals.

Tracer will meet Cibona Zagreb of Yugoslavia, which finished first in Group B.

Washington, including players from different schools, finished 0-3 and will play a consolation game for seventh place Saturday, before the first semifinal.

In an earlier Group A match, Barcelona of Spain beat the Latin American champions, Ferrocarril of Buenos Aires, 122-93. Barcelona finished 3-0 in the qualifying rounds.

Andres Jimenez and Antonio Epifanio, who scored 32 points each, led Barcelona, which will face Maccabi of Tel Aviv, Israel, in the other semifinal. Kevin Magee, former All-American from UC Irvine, plays for Maccabi.

Brown led all scorers with 35 points, and McAdoo, a former NBA star, had 22.

Eric White led Washington with 22 points, and Winston Arnel and Alvin Vaughn scored 18 each.

The tournament, which concludes Sunday, features five European teams that have been finalists or winners of Continental tournaments for clubs last season.
