Two earthquakes measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck central Ecuador about 2 1/2 hours apart, and civil defense officials reported that two people were killed and 12 were injured in the village of Ambata, about 80 miles south of Quito. Police said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Quito, the capital.
