27 Injured in RTD Bus Crash
An RTD bus with 35 people aboard skidded into a light standard on a rain-slickened street in Lynwood early today, and 27 people were taken to nearby hospitals with bruises and possible broken bones, authorities said.
The driver apparently skidded on the wet pavement at Long Beach Boulevard and Norton Avenue shortly after 5 a.m., a sheriff’s spokesman said. Ten of the injured had moderate injuries, including possible broken bones, while 17 others suffered cuts and bruises. Two engine companies, two paramedic squads and five ambulances were sent to the scene.
