Stolz and Santifer Talk, Then Schedule Another Meeting
Denny Stolz, the San Diego State football coach, said he will meet again with Derek Santifer on Monday to discuss the starting inside linebacker’s future with the team.
Stolz said Wednesday he met with Santifer for the first time since the team’s 49-7 loss at Air Force Saturday. Santifer was absent without permission from practice Monday and Tuesday.
Santifer did not practice Wednesday, but before the workout, he apologized to the team for his absence. He also had his injured right knee examined by trainer Don Kaverman, who said Santifer had a minor knee sprain.
Stolz said he would have no further comment until Monday.
Santifer could not be reached for comment. On Tuesday, he said he was interested in rejoining the team.
