A Boyle Heights church was ordered by a Superior Court judge to fumigate and make various repairs at a 19-unit apartment complex it owns. Judge Ricardo Torres ordered the Calvary Baptist Church to eliminate the rats, mice and insects at the building, install locks and window gates and supply hot water and heat to the 230 S. Soto St. complex. Torres also barred the owners from interfering with the building’s utilities or harassing the tenants. Attorney Mary Lou Villar, who represents 15 tenant families, said the church has threated to send Immigration and Naturalization Service officials to the building. She said about 13 of the families are illegal aliens.
