A Norman Rockwell painting is the inspiration for “Breaking Home Ties,” an ABC movie that stars Jason Robards, Eva Marie Saint, Claire Trevor, Doug McKeon and Erin Gray. Its a family drama that starts with Rockwell’s picture of a father and son waiting for the train that will take the young man off to college. ABC has set a telecast date of Nov. 26.

He will be seen Nov. 1 as Deidre Hall’s late husband, who appears in a dream that their son David (Chad Allen) has during brain surgery.

Rosana DeSoto and Esai Morales, who play mother and son in the film “La Bamba,” will play mother and son again in an episode of “Miami Vice,” to be seen later this season on NBC. Also in that installment: Francesco Quinn, son of Anthony Quinn.
