Countywide : 8th Amtrak Round Trip to Be Added Oct. 25
An eighth daily round trip will be added to Amtrak service between Los Angeles and San Diego, with stops in Orange County, beginning Oct. 25, officials said Monday. Sharon Greene, chairwoman of the county Transportation Commission’s committee overseeing efforts to improve rail service, said a specific train schedule is not yet available. Amtrak now serves the Orange County cities of Fullerton, Santa Ana, San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente. Construction of a new station in Irvine will begin next month, with completion expected in early 1989.
A new station is also being planned for south Los Angeles, Greene said.
