A federal judge in San Francisco set Nov. 3 as the tentative trial date for Peter Pilaski, a German engineer accused of injuring his estranged wife with a bomb hidden in a flower bouquet. Pilaski, 53, was held at New Folsom Prison without bail pending his trial on charges that he devised the plan to send the booby-trapped bouquet to his wife, Melanie, with the aid of his former homosexual lover, Shaun Small, 27. Small was convicted of delivering the bomb and is serving a 15-year prison term. He is expected to testify against Pilaski. Prosecutors say Pilaski built the bomb that exploded in the face of Melanie Pilaski on Nov. 17 in her federal building office. She and a co-worker, Pamela Castro, were injured in the blast. The Pilaskis were involved in a bitter divorce over the rights to $3 million in property.
