Four persons attending rock singer Madonna’s July 18 concert at Anaheim Stadium have filed claims against the City of Anaheim, charging that they were injured when authorities for the Orange County city failed to stop a stampede of fans who rushed toward the stage. Three of the claims describe cuts and bruises that occurred in the incident. A fourth claim was filed by 24-year-old Haylee Lin Winters of West Hollywood, who said she was knocked to the ground during the stampede by some of the 55,000 in attendance. Winters, who was pregnant at the time, said in an interview that she has since miscarried. Officials at the city-owned stadium and the private company managing security at the concert denied responsibility for the incident and angrily blamed the crush on the singer.
