Derrick McKey, involved in controversy the past six months after taking money from an agent while playing for Alabama, signed a multiyear contract with the Seattle SuperSonics.
Neither McKey nor the Sonics would detail the contract. The 6-foot 9-inch forward was the ninth player chosen in the first round of the National Basketball Assn. June draft.
McKey was allowed early entry into the draft when the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. declared him ineligible for his senior year after the disclosure he had taken money from agent Norby Walters.
