Aguirre Runs St. Genevieve to 17-0 Victory
Ruben Aguirre rushed for 223 yards and 1 touchdown on 22 carries to lead St. Genevieve to a 17-0, Santa Fe League victory over Pater Noster on Saturday at Pater Noster.
Aguirre, who injured his ankle and left the game midway through the fourth quarter, gave St. Genevieve (2-2, 1-0) all the points it needed when he scored on a 14-yard run in the second quarter. The Valiants recovered three fumbles in Pater Noster territory in the first quarter but failed to score each time.
Alfonso Gutierrez’s 28-yard field goal and Derrick Thompson’s three-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter completed the Thompson gained 40 yards on eight carries.
The St. Genevieve defense held Pater Noster to three first downs.
Pater Noster (0-3, 0-1) has not won a league game in three years.
