San Diego
Sale of the unused Farnum Elementary School site in Pacific Beach for use as a new public library and park was approved Tuesday by the San Diego Unified School District.
The City of San Diego, which would buy the property from the school district, is expected to approve the agreement later this month.
Under a complex plan drawn up by city and district officials, the city will improve a park next to Keiller Middle School, will deed land next to Lowell Elementary to the district, will give the district the site of the present Pacific Beach library, and will pay the district in cash the difference between the value of the Farnum property and the other land transfers.
The city received an anonymous $3.75-million donation from a Pacific Beach resident to aid in the land purchase and library construction.
