Fullerton : Pilot Walks Away From Plane Crash at Airport
A single-engine plane crashed on takeoff from Fullerton Municipal Airport Wednesday night, but its pilot walked away from the wreckage unhurt.
Pilot Dave Quigley of Orange had just taken off at 6:18 p.m. when the engine of his Maule 210-C stalled and the small plane fell about 150 feet onto the airport parking lot, Fire Department battalion chief Van Goyne said.
“He lost airspeed” and “just kind of slid in,” striking the ground and then two small planes that were parked near the airport control tower, Goyne said.
Goyne said Quigley’s plane caused minor damage to a single-engine plane and clipped the wing off a Cessna-150. But there were no injuries and no fire from the crash.
A Federal Aviation Authority spokesman in Los Angeles said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
