San Diegan Arrested in Traffic Fatality
A 24-year-old San Diego man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence in connection with a traffic accident that left a motorcyclist dead Friday night.
The accident occurred at West Point Loma Boulevard and Mentone Street at 9 p.m., when a pickup truck driven by Christopher Piquette, 24, collided with a motorcycle driven by a Navy man, said San Diego police spokesman Al Beckett.
The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, died in surgery at UCSD Medical Center about 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to Deputy Coroner George Dickason.
Piquette was freed Saturday from San Diego County Jail after posting $10,000 bail, a jail spokeswoman said.
