Deputy Coroner Charles Kelley said that information given to his office indicated that Jackson was shot by a woman.

“He had asked her to shoot him in the arm or leg so he could get out of the Marine Corps,” Kelley said. “So she turned her head, her hand was shaking and she shot. He got hit in the head.”

Jackson, who lived on Glenn Vista Street in San Diego, was stationed at Camp Pendleton.
