A seasonal slump in demand and abundant crude oil supplies in the past two weeks has given motorists a slight break at the gas pump, a leading oil industry analyst says. The national average price of a gallon of gasoline dropped by about half a cent to $1.00.78, said Trilby Lundberg, who conducts a biweekly survey of 13,000 gasoline stations across the country. But that trend, he said, may soon reverse because spot prices of crude oil have gone up a half-cent since late September while wholesale prices climbed by a third of a cent.
