Local News in Brief : Worker Electrocuted While Trimming Tree

A man trimming trees in North Hollywood was electrocuted Thursday when he accidently touched a 5,000-volt power line, the Los Angeles City Fire Department reported.

The 42-year-old man, whose identity was not released, was killed about 2:30 p.m. after climbing to the top of a palm tree at 12334 W. Emilita St. He was electrocuted when he attempted to move a palm frond off the power line, said Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson.

The employer of a man who was accidently electrocuted while trimming a palm tree in North Hollywood was incorrectly identified on Friday as Timberline Tree Trimming. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday that the employer is the Timberland Co.

The victim was employed by Timberline Tree Trimming, Williamson said. He was declared dead at the scene.
