Local News in Brief : Animal Cruelty Charged

Share

Animal control officers said they will file animal cruelty charges against the owner of 42 horses that were living in unsanitary conditions in a remote Saugus canyon.

Gerald Ingle, 67, was cited for allowing the hoofs of 24 of his horses to become badly overgrown and for poor conditions on his 41-acre Dry Canyon property. Animal Control Assistant Director Bruce Richards said the case involves the largest number of horses allegedly neglected by a single owner in the county in nearly a decade. About a dozen cases of horse neglect are brought in the county annually, he said.
