WOMEN AND WAR

Another female ‘Nam project: “Home Before Morning,” based on Lynda Van Devanter’s 1983 book about her experiences as an Army nurse in Pleiku and later bouts with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Originally developed as a feature for Sally Field, “Home” is now in development as a possible CBS miniseries from producers Maj Canton and Barbara Klein for Chuck Fries Entertainment.

Said Canton: “We’d thought of the book as the perfect miniseries. When you think about it, there’s really too much here for a movie. You’ve got her experiences in Vietnam, then you’ve got her coming home and realizing how she was affected by what happened to her.”
