L. A. Beautiful Presents Top Award to Architect

Architect Albert C. Martin received the Valley Knudsen Award of Los Angeles Beautiful Inc. at the organization’s 30th annual awards presentation last week at the New Otani Hotel.

Named for the founder of Los Angeles Beautiful, the award was created to recognize “exceptional service or significant contribution” made by a person or organization to the improvement of the Southland’s environmental quality.

Magnavox Advanced Products & Systems Co., Torrance, and St. Charles Borromeo Church, North Hollywood, won 20-year maintenance awards. The Santa Monica Boulevard median in West Hollywood was the recipient of a special award.

The recipients of business and industry awards, in alphabetical order, were:

Alhambra Car Wash, Alhambra; Casa Madrid Apartments, Lakewood; Charter National Bank, Encino; Citicorp Plaza, Los Angeles; Coremark Plaza, Hollywood; Eastman Kodak Motion Picture Marketing & Technical Center, Hollywood; Evergreen Office Center, Pasadena.
