Local News in Brief : Fugitive Waives Right
A former Los Angeles County prosecutor who vanished the day an Ontario jury convicted him of molesting his two daughters could be back in California as early as this week, a Colorado official said Monday.
Harvey W. Harper, 51, who was arrested Sept. 25 in Pueblo, Colo., after eluding authorities for 20 months, waived extradition Monday in a Pueblo courtroom, according to Pueblo County Deputy Dist. Atty. Chuck Barton. Harper once headed the unit in the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office that prosecutes parents for failing to pay child support.
