Terry Mims, a former two-time national Golden Glove champion, won a unanimous 10-round decision over former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks in a cruiserweight bout at Cleveland.
Mims, 35, raised his record to 19-12, as he consistently landed combinations against Spinks, 34, whose record fell to 18-7-2. Spinks had won three previous fights this year.
Each of the three judges scored in favor of Mims, who won by margins of 49-43, 47-45 and 47-46. The victory is the biggest for Mims since he recovered from a traffic accident in 1980 that had left him paralyzed for two years.
