Dutch soccer fans wrecked the interior of a jet chartered to take them from Amsterdam to Aberdeen, Scotland, for a championship match, airport officials said. They said the 190 passengers destroyed the seats, tables and other equipment on the Boeing 707 aircraft. A spokesman for the travel agency Martinair said another party of about 150 Dutch fans traveling by ferry from Rotterdam had caused “extensive damage” to the boat, and that “reports from Aberdeen mention a crowd that was absolutely impossible to control.” He said police briefly detained the fans and that Dutch charter companies are refusing to take them home.
