‘WHAT THE BUTLER SAW’ TO REPLACE ‘HEADS’ AT LATC
Joe Orton’s “What the Butler Saw” will replace “The Transposed Heads” as the fourth production of the Los Angeles Theatre Center season.
Charles Marowitz will direct the Orton comedy, to play Dec. 18-Jan. 17, with previews scheduled for Dec. 11.
“The Transposed Heads,” a musical adaptation of a Thomas Mann novella, has gone through “serious rewrites,” said LATC’s artistic producting director Bill Bushnell, “and we weren’t able to resolve the contracts in time to do the elaborate pre-production work.”
His “best guess” is that “Heads” will be postponed a year, until late in 1988, “because it would be a great show for around Christmastime.”
