A Tustin woman was booked Thursday night on suspicion of killing her 75-year-old mother, who was hit on the head during an argument between the two, police said.

Tustin police said they were alerted to the death of Madelyn Schadt by a 6:10 p.m. telephone call from Nutley, N.J., purportedly from the former husband of the daughter, Patricia Myra Larsen, 44. The man said he had received a phone call from a woman saying that a murder had taken place.

When police arrived at the 14012 Pinebrook Drive home that the two women shared, they found that Schadt had been struck on the head and was not breathing and had no pulse. Emergency resuscitation failed to revive her, and she was pronounced dead at Healthcare Medical Center in Tustin.
