Malcolm (Mac) Prine resigned as president of the Pittsburgh Pirates after an internal tug of war with General Manager Syd Thrift over who should run the front office.
Prine stepped down only hours after the Pirates’ board of directors ordered Thrift rehired under terms he requested, not those proposed by Prine.
