Worthy Scores 28 in College Homecoming Game

James Worthy, returning to his former college campus, scored 28 points, and teammate Byron Scott added 27 Saturday night as the Lakers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 123-119, in an exhibition game at the University of North Carolina.

The Lakers rallied from a 13-point deficit late in the third quarter to improve their exhibition record to 4-0.

A.C. Green grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and added 16 points for the Lakers.

Ron Harper paced the Cavaliers with 27 points, and Dell Curry added 24.

The Cavaliers’ Brad Daugherty, another former Tar Heel star, had 17 points.

The exhibition contest drew a crowd of 14,601 fans to UNC’s Smith Center.
