Diehard fans of singer-author Barry Manilow spent Sunday night outside Hollywood’s Pantages Theater hoping to nab tickets to one of the entertainer’s upcoming eight concerts. “For the most part, they (fans) have been terrific,” theater manager Dixie Burton said Monday. “They set up little tables, had picnics and played cards all night.” Manilow, who hasn’t appeared in Southern California in two years, is scheduled to perform at the Pantages on Dec. 25, 26, 27, 29, 30 and 31 and Jan. 2 and 3. Tickets went on sale Monday at 10 a.m. “We had people here on Friday wanting to start a line but we said come back Sunday night,” Burton said. Burton said the theater left its marquee lights on “so they wouldn’t be in the dark,” and arranged for overnight security.
