Plans by Paramount Pictures to screen the Big Dan’s rape case that made New Bedford, Mass. notorious may also reopen old wounds. “I think it’s a terrible indictment of the taste of the public ... and of Hollywood to produce” the film, said lawyer Kenneth Sullivan, a defense lawyers in the 1983 trial of four men in the pool table-top rape of Cheryl Ann Araujo at Big Dan’s bar. The film titled “The Accused” will star Jodie Foster playing the victim’s role. Kelly McGillis plays her lawyer in the film, which wrapped up shooting two months ago in Vancouver, Paramount publicist said.
