Orange County Roundup : Strawberry, Davis to Head Sports Camp

Darryl Strawberry of the New York Mets and Eric Davis of the Cincinnati Reds will be the featured instructors at the Superstar Baseball Camp, which will be held Nov. 21-22 at Cypress College.

The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and will cost $75 per participant. Other staff members will include yet-to-be-announced professional players and Cypress College players.

The camp is open to participants age 10 and older who will be grouped according to age and ability. Participants will receive an autographed picture of Strawberry and Davis and a T-shirt. Tim Wallach of the Montreal Expos will hold a holiday baseball camp at Fullerton College, Dec. 27-31. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and the cost is $190, which includes a T-shirt and a cap. It is open to participants T-Ball-age and older.

The Cypress College wrestling tournament, which will be held Saturday at the college, will feature 6 of the top 10 teams in the state coaches’ poll.

Cypress, the No. 2-ranked team, heads the 12-team field, which also includes Cerritos (No. 3), Rio Hondo (No. 4), Golden West (No. 5), Moorpark (No. 6) and Palomar (No. 8).
