TUESDAY’S ELECTION AT A GLANCE

According to Registrar of Voters Don Tanney, about 14% of 840,754 eligible voters will cast ballots in Tuesday’s elections. That figure is higher than the last off-year election, at which 12% turned out.

This year’s ballot is unusually short because many school boards that traditionally have been a part of this election cycle have chosen to consolidate balloting in the General Election in November, 1988. But even though the number of school board and city council elections is small, there are important races and measures on the ballot.

How public can get information on election night: Ballots from 1,075 polling places will be delivered to 16 collection centers throughout the county and then brought to the registrar of voters office, 1300 S. Grand Ave., Santa Ana, for tallying. To get results by phone (after about 9:30 p.m.): call 714-834-2244. To pick up printed results: Interim results will be available at 30-minute intervals at the registrar’s office, 1300 S. Grand Ave., Building C, Santa Ana. Complete results by individual precinct will be available on Wednesday.
