Charger Punter Mojsiejenko Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Under Influence
Ralf Mojsiejenko, Charger punter, was arrested by San Diego police Monday evening on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a police spokesman.
Mojsiejenko, 24, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. He was booked at County Jail and had not been released by 11 p.m., police spokesman Stephen Margetts said.
Steve Ortmayer, Chargers director of football operations, said he was unaware of the arrest when contacted late Monday night.
“I don’t feel qualified to comment on the situation until I see a police report or have more information,” said Ortmayer, who appeared surprised by the arrest of the popular player.
Mojsiejenko is in his third season with the Chargers and also serves as holder for kicker Vince Abbott. This season, he has 15 punts for 651 yards (43.4 yards per kick). In Sunday’s 27-24 overtime victory against the Cleveland Browns he punted five times for an average of 46.4 yards per punt.
