49ers Return Ailing Wyman to Seattle
Coach Bill Walsh said Thursday that the San Francisco 49ers’ trade with Seattle for linebacker Dave Wyman has been voided because of the highly regarded rookie’s shoulder injury.
“We had to negate the trade for Dave Wyman with Seattle because he had a shoulder injury that seemed chronic to the point that he could not pass our physical,” Walsh said.
The 49ers traded for Wyman, the former Stanford star who was the Seahawks’ second-round choice in this year’s NFL draft, 10 minutes before the trade deadline Tuesday. They reportedly sent a No. 2 pick in 1988 to Seattle for Wyman and Seattle’s No. 6 choice next year.
