“Yellow Submarine.” MGM/UA. $29.95. Twenty years after its premiere, “Yellow Submarine” remains one of the most visually imaginative films in the history of animation. The story was always weak, and this simple-minded ‘60s fairy tale of Good versus Evil seems hopelessly out of date today. But designer Heinz Edelmann’s wildly surreal graphics retain their vitality, and the digitally remastered sound track is clean and sharp. A warning for baby-boomers trying to recapture their “flower power” pasts: The Beatles look distressingly young in a live-action cameo at the end. Information: (213) 280-6208. *** 1/2
