An Arizona State official says he has presented a proposal to St. Louis Cardinal owner Bill Bidwill to move his National Football League club to Tempe and lease Sun Devil Stadium. Brent Brown, an ASU vice president, said he was well received by Bidwill.
“I cannot say I have any clear idea of what Bill is going to do,” Brown said. “They’re taking all that information, and I’m sure they’ll put it to good use.”
Bidwill has indicated strongly that he will move his team from St. Louis after this season and is known to have been in contact with officials in Memphis, Tenn.; Baltimore, and Jacksonville, Fla.; as well as those in Phoenix and neighboring Tempe.
