Rozier Goes to Center to Discuss ‘Drinking a Little Bit Too Much’

Houston Oilers running back Mike Rozier confirmed Tuesday night that he went to an alcohol treatment center for counseling, but denied that he had checked into the facility, as a Houston television station had reported earlier in the day.

KHOU-TV had reported that Rozier, the 1983 Heisman Trophy winner at Nebraska and the Oilers’ leading ground gainer this season, had checked into the Orchard Creek Hospital in Rosenberg, west of Houston.

“I went down there for two days to talk to a couple of people about drinking,” Rozier said at a news conference.

“I thought that I was drinking a little bit too much. I was getting carried away with it. I just went down there and talked to a couple of counselors about it. That’s about it,” he said.

Rozier, 26, said he doesn’t drink anymore.
