The Cleveland Cavaliers signed 6-foot 11-inch Johnny Rogers of UC Irvine as a replacement for the injured Ron Harper after learning that Harper will be out at least eight weeks.
A re-examination revealed that Harper, a high-scoring shooting guard who was injured during Saturday’s 113-105 loss to Atlanta, severely sprained his left ankle and chipped a small bone in his foot. Doctors had originally estimated that Harper would be out about four weeks.
Rogers was the second-round draft choice of the Sacramento Kings last year after spending two years at UC Irvine. He played his first two seasons of college ball at Stanford.
