Pitt and Maryland have agreed to cancel their football series in 1988 and 1989, allowing Pitt to schedule a seventh home game next season for the second year in a row.
Pitt was supposed to have opened next season Sept. 10 at Maryland. Pitt Athletic Director Ed Bozik said he has contacted three or four Division I-A teams about replacing the Terrapins on the Panther schedule.
