Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Library Will Operate Hispanic Bookmobile

The Santa Ana Public Library will begin operating a Children’s Hispanic Bookmobile on Monday that will bring 5,000 books, records and cassettes in Spanish and English to Spanish-speaking areas.
The bookmobile, which will operate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, has material targeted for children from preschool to grade five.
Santa Ana has the largest population of children under 5 years old in the county, said Margaret Jean Owens, head of library extension services. The bookmobile, bought with $45,000 in state and federal funds, is designed to motivate children to read and encourage family library use.
The bookmobile will visit the following sites:
Monday--9-11:30 a.m., Fremont Elementary School, 1930 W. 10th St.; 2-4 p.m. Logan Recreation Center, 1009 Cluster St.;
Wednesday--9-11 a.m. CANO Headstart , 202 N. Bristol St.; 2-4 p.m. Wilson Elementary School, 1317 N. Baker St.;
Friday--9-11 a.m., Centennial Child Development Center, 2900 W. Edinger St.; 1-3 p.m. Remmington Elementary School. 1325 E. 4th St.
The bookmobile will be staffed by bilingual personnel.
