Big Apple NIT : No. 2 Purdue Bows, 104-96, to Iowa State
Jeff Grayer scored 19 of his game-high 29 points in the second half as Iowa State defeated No. 2-ranked Purdue, 104-96, in the second round of the Big Apple NIT basketball tournament Tuesday night at West Lafayette, Ind.
Purdue led, 93-90, with 3:52 left, before the Cyclones (2-0) outscored the Boilermakers, 14-3, including 10 straight points that made it 100-93 with 40 seconds left.
Purdue (1-1), which missed five of its final six shots, was led by Troy Lewis with 28 points, 18 in the first half.
Iowa State (2-0) will play Florida in the semifinals Friday night. Seton Hall will face New Mexico in the other semifinal at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Seton Hall 93, Middle Tennessee State 61--Daryll Walker and Mark Bryant scored seven points apiece in a decisive first-half spurt that carried the Pirates to victory at Piscataway, N.J.
In the first half, Seton Hall (2-0) shot 62%.
