Local News in Brief : Man Held in Beating Faces Homicide Charge

A Glendale man charged with attempted homicide in the beating of a woman faces an additional charge of homicide in a separate case.

Benjamin Levey was charged Tuesday afternoon with the strangulation death of Pamela Leitch, 38, of Glendale, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Phil Heeger.

Police discovered Leitch’s decomposed body in her apartment Nov. 8 while investigating the earlier charge.

Lori Mellinger, 28, an acquaintance of Levey, told police Levey beat her on the head with a wood club and stabbed her in the face with a screwdriver. Levey was also charged with one count of mayhem and one count of assault with a deadly weapon in that incident.

Levey was arrested the next day in Arleta. He is being held without bail in Los Angeles County jail.
