Dwight Gooden, who earlier said he wanted a multiyear contract from the New York Mets, now says he is willing to approve a one-year deal for next season.
Gooden, 23, signed a one-year contract last season for $1.5 million. He did not pitch until June because he was in cocaine rehabilitation and went 15-7 with a 3.21 earned-run average.
