Former weightlifting champion Larry Pacifico was sentenced...
Former weightlifting champion Larry Pacifico was sentenced to five years’ probation for one count of smuggling and one count of shipping anabolic steroids in interstate commerce. He had pleaded guilty to both counts in June. He also was ordered to perform 1,000 hours of community service and was fined $15,000, about the profit he made by selling the drugs to weightlifter friends.
Pacifico said that in addition to his legal problems, that steroids had caused him two heart attacks and had “knocked 15 to 20 years off my life.”
He could have faced eight years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
