Police are seeking a man believed to be responsible for 12 bank robberies countywide since July 31, including two Wednesday, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, a man stole $150 from the Great American First Savings Bank at 5180 Mission Blvd. in Pacific Beach, Robinson said. At 1:35 p.m., the same man stole $800 from the Home Federal Savings & Loan at 3921 30th St. in North Park, Robinson said.

Banks also have been robbed in East San Diego, La Jolla, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Chula Vista and Carlsbad, he said.

The bandit passed a note to the cashier in all of the robberies, Robinson said, adding that the robber’s method of operation, physical descriptions and photographs taken by bank security devices have led police to believe that one man committed the robberies.

The suspect is described as being white, about 30 years old, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, with combed-back dark brown hair.
