CS Fullerton Will Try for First Win Tonight Against Weber State at Ogden

Cal State Fullerton’s basketball team, which lost to Montana in its opener Wednesday night, will try again for its first victory tonight against Weber State, which is coached by Larry Farmer, the former UCLA coach.

Fullerton, with its top two scorers back but also with four key players who have played only one game for the Titans, struggled badly against Montana and trailed by 17 points before a second-half comeback made the final score close, 71-66.

The Titans shot only 43%, and Richard Morton, their only apparent outside threat, made just 8 of 23 shots. Morton’s shooting percentage suffered in part because he made just 3 of 13 three-point shots as he tried to put the Titans back in contention.

Weber State has only five players--none of them starters--back from a 7-22 team. Rico Washington, a 6-foot 7-inch junior center playing his first season for Weber State, led the Wildcats with 15 points and 7 rebounds in their only game this season, an 88-72 loss to New Mexico.

Farmer is 25-33 in three seasons at Weber State.
