Local News in Brief : 200-Gallon Oil Spill Studied
A 200-gallon oil spill that occurred during fueling of an American President Lines ship in the Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday is under investigation, a port official said.
He said the 10-inch rubber hose fueling the President Roosevelt from a Phoenix Marine diesel barge broke about 9 a.m. The 900-foot container ship was berthed in Wilmington.
Cleanup began at 10 a.m. but the spill was not contained by Wednesday evening, he said.
