Holiday Bowl Ticket Sales Nearing Sellout

The 10th annual Holiday Bowl is headed toward a record sellout crowd of nearly 62,000, executive director John Reid said at a news conference Wednesday.

“The game is a slam-dunk sellout,” Reid said.

Reid said that the 20,000 tickets allotted to the participating schools, Iowa and Wyoming, are almost all sold and that there are enough people on waiting lists to purchase any tickets that might remain for the game Dec. 30 in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.

Reid previously said that all tickets reserved for the general public had been sold.

Iowa has sold its 10,000 tickets, and Wyoming has sold 9,100 tickets and is continuing to sell tickets at a rate of about 200 per day, Reid said. Reid said seats installed in the stadium for the Super Bowl Jan. 31 should allow the Holiday Bowl to break its attendance record of 61,243 set in the 1984 game between Brigham Young and Michigan.
