Santa Monica : Posting on Noise Approved
In an effort to control noise, the City Council gave preliminary approval to an ordinance requiring that bilingual signs be posted at construction sites which state working hours.
The signs would alert employees and subcontractors that construction and demolition work can be conducted only between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays. No work is permitted on Sundays.
The signs will be required only at projects where work costs more than $10,000 as a way to avoid making homeowners or business owners post signs when doing routine repair or maintenance, a staff report said.
