Point Loma Nazarene Wins, 74-57

Shannon Anderson scored 24 points and Ann Duffy added 19 Thursday night as Point Loma Nazarene handed Northern Montana its first loss of the season, 74-57, in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Montana.

Laura Mars added 17 points for Point Loma Nazarene, which pulled away to its fifth victory in six games after leading by only 28-26 at halftime. Northern Montana is 11-1.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Dave Kirksey scored 28 points and Mark Kraatz added 21 to lead Christian Heritage College past Redlands, 101-78, in a nonconference game at Grossmont High School. Christian Heritage (4-4) trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half and 52-42 at halftime before rallying.

Bill Soucie scored 17 for Christian Heritage, which plays Saturday night against Life College of Los Angeles at Grossmont College. Redlands fell to 4-3.

FOOTBALL

Scott Walker, an All-Mission Conference linebacker from San Diego Mesa College, has a signed a letter of intent to attend Arizona State, Mesa Coach Len Smorin said Thursday. Walker, who is 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighs 230 pounds, previously attended Helix High School.

FISHING The San Diego Sportfishing Council and the San Diego Unified Port District Sunday will play host to the eighth annual Day at the Docks, an exhibit of the sportfishing fleet at the San Diego Sportfishing Landings in Point Loma.
