The Ash Grove, L.A.’s folk-music landmark throughout the 1960s, closed after a fire in 1973. Now a new edition of the nightclub is scheduled to open in March at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Highland Avenue, with original proprietor Ed Pearl again at the helm. The new, 400-seat club, says Pearl, will have an expanded musical and cultural focus, covering the gamut of L.A.’s ethnic groups, as well as providing an outlet for rock, jazz, blues and country.
